Operating out of a civic legislation that requires a standing "regimented corps of volunteers", the Oakenthorne Militia are a curious footnote in the history of the Free Republic of Volfor. Initially incorporated by the Kingdom of Sudvanne as a way of dealing with problems at the very edge of its domain, the "Princely men of the militia" have been ever present to act on behalf of the people of Osuvanne and the sourrounding countryside. The militia is organised into small groups known as "fifths", groups of five that will operate autonomously unless organised work is required, in which case the sergeant adjutant will deploy fifths as needed.

Description
The Militia has several standing precepts:

1. The Militia will always be numbered of ten fifth's.

2. The fifths will be distinct.

3. The fifths will report to the Merobidd of Osuvanne in the first instance, with loyalty to the people before the crown.

4. The fifths will be of honest men.

5. The fifths will not be ignorant of the plight of the common man.

6. The fifths will respond to the danger of the country, respect the lore and the laws, and be selfless.

7. The fifths will have compelled thier duty complete when the sergeant adjutant declares it so.

8. The Sergeant adjutant will be drawn from the first of fifths.

History
Created following an outbreak of lawlessness in the region over 200 years ago, the Oakenthorne Militia was formed by Reginald Oakenthorne to provide support, guardianship and security to the people of the area surroundin the town of Osuvanne(Town). Reginald was also a learned man, and was fascinated by the theory of numerology, hence the division of the militia into units of 'fifths'.

As time passed, the number of fifths grew, and the area they protected spread out further reaching as far as all settlements in the area drawing short of Vol in the North to Tor Kalverna in a southerly direction, through to the forests just short of Blademarket. An agreement with the Amahi keeps the militia from the gates of Blademarket, but they have worked with the town guard when jurisdiction permits.

Due to the heritage of Oakenthorne (although his family tree has long since died out) the leaders of the fifths are expected to elect a representative to report to Vol every year. While they have a voting privillege on the matters discussed there, other factions have argued for this privillege to be stripped from what is seen as a 'group of farmers with swords' even though some quite well respected soldiers have grown from the militia.
| source = Touring in the Republic: A Musicians Review
}}

History
It's a mountain range, so it exists. As for it's history, well... It's had a troubled time of it. Traditionally a hideout from people and creatures on the run for what passes for authority, these days it's not a 'villain around every corner' so much as those unsatisfied with society slping off into the hills to sulk for a bit until people forget why they stropped off in the first place.

Creation myths tell of a hand breaking forth from the ground, which formed the central area - but it's a pretty strange hand, if they're just referring to the Tumble since it's a single spire in the centre; perhaps something got lost in translation over the many, many centuries.

Locations
The tallest crag in the Tumblepeaks is called, of course, The Tumble. Many have tried to scale it, but the sheer rise of the highest point, together with the low cloud cover that seems to bite into the base of the rise to the apex has put paid to the plans of many a would be mountaineer. With the geography of the place, it’s almost like The Tumble has been placed slap bang in the middle of the range, if one were to measure and plot the area.

Amongst the other rises, the more scalable mountains include a chain of three called Byll, Bynn and Wyyd – it’s difficult to say where one starts and the other ends, but the area of these three mountains contains various crevices and plateaus where many different types of flora and fauna. The plateaus here can measure from a few metres to ones that spread kilometres wide and move in, out and between of various overhangs.

The rolling hills as you travel into the area are nicknamed the Rumbles – amongst these, you might find the occasional burrow of a group of angry badgers, are the barrow of an angry spirit. It’s rumoured that treasure can be found amongst the many bumps and lumps – but one’s more likely to find a twisted ankle or ill-tempered wildlife.

There are many caves, caverns and waterfalls at the base and amongst the mountains themselves, almost as if some angry borrower popped in and out of the place.

You’ll find caves such as the Teeth of Owwach which is comprised of stalactites and stalagmites and looks, from a certain angle, like an angry witch with huge teeth, stopped in mid-chomp.

Or you might wander past the beautiful Singing Falls. They’re not called that due to the sound of the water tumbling, as one might think, but due to the very odd plants that grow there with some strange pollen that make people spontaneously burst into song if they stay there too long. It’s a favourite area of lovers who are looking to prove their devotion by serenading their lovers. Bizarrely, it’s also got a history of dreadful, bloody murders. Funny, that.

Marmorikroon
It's difficult to point out how to get there, but Marmorikroon is a stone circle, found within a treacherous region of the ‘peaks. Dating to the early crossing of the ‘peaks, the circle isn’t your usual grey-stone monolith circle, haphazardly dropped in place by unknown hands.

When you encounter the Marmorikroon (and, believe me, sooner or later you will) you’ll find the area that you’re in is… changed. The greyish-to-white crags of the crevice you’re picking your way through will give way, and you’ll notice that the stones colours are gradually leaching away until you encounter a smoother type of stone in the area.
The area around the Marmorikroon seems bleached white, almost like the sun has never left the place. Or is it that the stones of the circle have infected the surrounding natural stone?

The five stones themselves lie in a rough-hewn circle – some horizontal, some standing. They are comprised of a classic type of marble, pale white, yet at the same time earthy, with an ominous yet not threatening presence.

Scholars differ on whether it’s a larger or small circle; indeed from the few maps of the place one hasn’t been included here because… Well, to be honest, no two seem to be the same. Whether people are a bit slapdash or there’s something not quite right here, you can swear until you’re blue in the face that you KNOW where the stones were positioned, yet next time… you must have been mistaken, they’re lying a different way.

And the stones themselves? If you look closely at them, there’s something not quite right in the way they’ve been positioned.

Many who have visited has described the sense of peace and quiet that descends on you as you pass through the Marmorikroon. The air here smells even purer than other areas in the Tumblepeaks, a kind of deep almost sea-like clean. It’s almost like if one went to sleep here, one would have the most peaceful and relaxing sleep ever.

Or you’d never wake up. One thing or the other.

Young, buff and with spiky short blond hair, beautiful smile, teeth that gleam. He looks like an underwear model. His eyes sparkle as much as his teeth. Does he lift? You bet!

He’s wearing a blue-and-silver tinted chainmail, decorated with an oaktree and a shield (the symbol of the Oakenthorne Militia), decorated with a blood red sash around his waist.

The northeastern arable land of Volfor, Osuvanne is a farmers hamlet, with three farms clustering together for a co-operative of sorts, with a small crossroads marking the village on the map. Named after the land that gives it is lifestyle, Osuvanne is a quiet and unsuspecting place for the short term visitor.

History
The Town of Osuvanne (lit: Cradle of the world) is a small market and farming town you probably have never heard of. Founded by the Hockerbile family some 1500 years ago, the landscape has not changed overmuch in the intervening years.

Layout
The town has a small square and a marble fountain is the centerpiece of run down, ancient monument building. The square is completed by a town hall officially called a Merobidd where matters of dispute were adjudicated upon by the elders of the village. South westward of the town the well established Andersmith and Hockerbile steads are situated, with several rolling hills and fields partitioned off by dry stone walls. North of the Joeväljak, a solitary hill is framed by the rivulets and is crowned by the Tumblepeaks(area)#Marmorikroon, a stone circle.

From time to time in its history, the proud men and women of Osuvanne have been called upon to serve the local militia or brigades of military that have called this land home. A skeleton-staffed fort overlooks the town on the southern mountains, as the eastern road winds toward the King's Road and the twin cities of Vol and Furangar to the north, and the center of commerce, Blademarket in the south.

Tavern
The options for visitors to stay in the farming village are limited to barns and proffering coin to the farmers to allow wild camping on their land. Alcohol, for what it is, is rarely served outside the family homes, but a meeting point for the village exists and is known as The Hubbub; part meeting house, part town hall, mostly a gossip hall for the elderly patrons and the de-facto barkeep Alexandra Andersmith.

Markets and Merchants

North of the Joeväljak, a solitary hill is framed by the rivulets and is crowned by the Marmorikroon, a stone circle.

Young, scruffy and spiky short blond hair, beautiful smile, teeth that gleam. He looks like an underwear model. His eyes sparkle as much as his teeth. Does he lift? You bet!
He’s wearing a simple cyan and white tunic, decorated with a discrete Ankh over his heart and a blood red sash around his waist. He wear an Ankh symbol around his neck.
There’s something about him that just screams energy and vitality. But politely, and very restrained. Except for when he's forced into combat with things. Because then, he swears like a f***ing sailor.

He looks like a farmboy, and has the wide eyed wonder of one. But at the same time, he can move like a soldier in combat - even though he's not very good at it.

History
He comes from the village of Osuvanne (yes, it's the same name as the area, but what can you do.)
Journal
Entry 1:
So, I'm going to try and find out where the troubled potions came from. Fortuantely, Mrs D. just ended up with, erm, intestinal distress, but it could have been worse. Was it deliberate? Has someone tampered with them? Anyway... I've made it to Blademarket and will try and find out what's going on.

Entry 2:
Trying to help out isn't helping, and we seem to be having a lack of people for potions. I'm kind of lost; I thought this would be a simple thing to solve, but ever since that night in the mountains, everything seems like a dream.
...and someone asked about the militia of Osuvanne. I don't know anything about that.

In the journal, you'll find several missing pages next. It's probably some entries have been removed? Or was it just that the pages were damaged? Also, it looks like the numbering of the entries has gone a bit awry, with some having duplicate times and dates.

Entry 3:
It's kind of difficult to concentrate at times. There's just so much going on here! I'm trying to keep an eye on what happened with the potions, but I appear to have fallen into some sort of conspiracy. I'm doing my best to follow it, but it's not what I do anymore. By that, I mean... I mean it's not something that I understand, all this investigating and following up. I've followed up a few more things - perhaps now we've met the Duke (by way of inadvertantly dead sub-Mereton). This might open up a few doors, but I'm not too sure.

Entry 3:
There's so much going on - it's amazing. I've never experienced a place so big and full like this City. The skyhooks, everything! Yes, there's the strangeness with fire and things.

Entry 4:
I'm not the most athletic - well, I am, but not like that, are we - but jumping and swinging inside this tower is no good. I don't know how I've got even more caught up in this. I mean, it's a place like home, but it's not quite as... lifefull.
It was terrifying balancing across things in the tower, but I've done something like this before, haven't I? A group of people, some strange panicked situation, lifeforce and energy flowing all around - but this is... fire? It's not like before.
Rescued a very sooty hafling, which... helped. More like life, I was able to channel the magical restoration to him. We were cheered by the crowds, and it felt better.

Entry 4:
The tower reminded me of [unreadable] but at least we managed to help get people out. Again, I've found it difficult to concentrate on what I was sent here for.

Entry 5:
We've been able to locate some more information. I can go and talk to the Sergeant at Arms to try and track down Smythe. We think that's the best idea, and I'm sure that...

Entry 6, 6, 7, 7 have had the bottoms of the pages torn away

Entry 8: ...discussions with the warehouse manager, so we'll now be on our way along the Dwindle towards Dwardle.

The stones themselves lie in a rough-hewn circle – some horizontal, some standing.

History of the Tumblepeaks

The rolling hills as you travel into the area are nicknamed ‘the rumbles’ – amongst these, you might find the occasional burrow of a group of angry badgers, are the barrow of an angry spirit. It’s rumoured that treasure can be found amongst the many bumps and lumps – but one’s more likely to find a twisted ankle or ill-tempered wildlife.

Notable Creatures

The stones themselves lie in a rough-hewn circle – some horizontal, some standing.

A young cleric, venerating Life in all its forms. Innocent, but devoted. Pleasant, yet dedicated. An oasis of calm.

Description

Entry 3:
Berwick? Are you there?

Entry 5: We've been able to locate some more information. I can go and talk to the Sergeant at Arms to try and track down Smythe. We think that's the best idea, and I'm sure that... Hang on a minute. Is there someone else there?

A young cleric, venerating Life in all its forms. Innocent, but devoted. Pleasant, yet dedicated. An oasis of calm.

Description

Entry 3:
Berwick? Are you there?
