The '''Planar Lock''' was a posited arcane device that had the potential to seal a divine entity away from the Divine plane and prevent the ascension of deities from one plane to another. It was designed during the Wars of Ascendancy and used to prevent the attempts by [[Diato]] and later [[Cwelgar]] to ascend.

In its basic state, it is a magical concept. It requires vast magical power concentrated and focused by means of magical devices that were known as Hasps. These devices would be attuned to the deity in question, and through its function would prevent the plane shift that would be required in ascension to occur, instead shifting the target into an alternative realm of banishment. It is postulated that a hasp exists for every deity in existence, though such devices may need to be created in order to control future threats.

=The Hasp=

A hasp is a bronzed dish shaped device dating from before the fall of Tinch. It is heavily set with jewels and is related to the Tinch Aeon Stones. It is supposed that this artefact was involved in the destruction of the city when it was activated without appropriate countermeasures set up.

It acts as a key to a Planar Lock, which was used to seal Tiamat away from the Material plane many millenia ago. The previous attempt to use this technology did not succeed in freeing Tiamat, but it did weaken the barriers between the planes sufficiently that Tinch was all but destroyed in the aftermath.

Originally found by Corrie and the [[Braves of Bahamut]] for [[Ser Traintel]], this artefact was since stolen by unknown thieves in the area of Calmore. It was snatched by “Edward” his steward and moved from the tower at the same time as the theft of the Turret was done. (“Edward” is a disguised [[Alsander Maplewood]], who stole the Hasp as suspicion of Traintel and the Ardence began to form within the council governing [[Calmore]]).
