The shaded village of Osten Canopy stands on the eastern edge of The Sudenmoss. Right on the coast, giving a perfect position to cut, treat, manufacture and ship good quality lumber all over Abbatchka.

A view from the edge of the village.

Great timber does not grow with ease; the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees!
—William Ward, Discussing the growing lumber trade of his homestead.

History

Osten Canopy was once a small logging homestead that steadily grew to become a strong trade village, sitting on the edge of the Sudenmoss. They have a readily available supply of top quality lumber. Being on the coast also gives them the perfect position to get their lumber loaded onto merchant vessels, allowing it to be sent all over the continent and the wider world as needed.

Founded by it's current mayor, William Ward, the town is as picturesque as possible. With well armed guards that keep it safe from bandits looking to raid and the creatures of the woods looking for lunch. The town operates a one out two in policy, with regards to it's harvesting. They are planting more than they cut and keeping the woods in balance. Lest they upset the druids and natural balance.

Layout

The whole western side of the village is dedicated to lumbering and wood treatments. The northern edge is the housing and winter stores. Over to the east and along parts of the coast are the markets and guards located. The rest of the southern side is home to a few docks, designed to take large merchant vessels. This is twinned with the loading apparatus to haul goods from the lumber yards to the docks. In the centre is a large village square where the local band of the village play weekends. This in turn draws visitors as well as merchants for entertainment as well as trade. The only thing missing from this village and stopping it being called a town is the lack of a temple. The local religion being more musical and trade related than any particular deity.
