Diato
Diato is the Abbatchtkan draconic deity of artisans and jealousy. His hereabouts and activities since the first attempt at ascension are unknown. It is said he was the creator of all Dragonborn.
The old man of the sky, the death of milions? The skyfather? Diato has many names, more than even he can remember. But one remains, and drives his ambition: The First, even if he was a failure. We need to be more ardent in our ambitions.—Ser Traintel, Overheard at Qi'Frayne, a coded message to Alsander Maplewood from a member of the Calmorian Way.
Diato's Creation, and relationship with the Nine
The myths and legend surrounding the Abbatchtkan deity called Diato all share a common introduction: Diato was the first of the Nine. The eldest, if that was something to be proud of, and he became proud of this status during the battles between his parents that raised mountains and sunk entire continents. His sister, Bahamut, remained his favourite relative after his parents perished.
Attempts at Ascension
During the Wars of Acscendancy, Diato became the most destabilising threat to the nature of the material and divine planes. During the battles between Titan and Cerethys, Diato eventually became a patricide, as Titan killed Cerethys. The madness of the family seemed personified, as Diato became almost frenzied, and eventually led to his attempt to finish the work of Cerethys without her stature or power. He was stopped in this misguided attempt by the collective effort of the other members of the Nine.
Post First War of Ascension activity
After his banishment to the material plane, Diato was a vagrant shadow across the new world. After a time he became a calmer fury, and turned his rage into creation. The creatures he made flesh became the denizens of the world, and he is given credit by the Dragonborn for their creation. Some of the other creations, such as wyverns and gryphons, became tamed by the dragonborne, whilst others were condemned to the darkness of the underfey.
Actions during Cwelgar's attempt at Ascension, the Second War of Ascension, and the Fall of Tinch
Diato was notably absent from the call to arms sent by Bahamut and Tamarand when Cwelgar attempted to break The Planar Lock, and abandoned the Nine to their squabbles. After the battle Diato is considered to have been lost to the rest of the Nine. Further discussions, especially with Sapphiros suggest that Diato was convinced to leave the area in order to prevent Malac to join with Cwelgar.
Diato during The Third War of Ascension
Erethian's attempt to subvert Cwelgar's attempt to break the Planar Lock led to Ser Traintel performing the plane shift in Normore after the final hasp was broken. Following this, Diato was summoned to the battle by the magicks involved. The Joeshoes prevailed, and the remaining dragons were sealed onto the material plane. Diato survived the encounter, and was not seen leaving Normore.
Diato's Creations
Diato is known in legend as the Skyfather - a term that recognises his role in the creation of various lifeforms in the material plane. Whether this was as recompense for his patricide of Titan, and taking over his work, or to try and return Cerethys to life, Diato is credited with breathing life into several races of Kuselada.
Dragonborn
Diato is the creator of all dragonborn, with the rarest of the race, the albino dragonborn, considered that of the purest blood. The instillation of divine energy of the Nine led to the formation of the rest of the Chromatic dragonborn.
=Elves of the Underfey, the Drow
Whilst the elves of Kuselada are descended from the work of Cerethys and Titan, the attempts by Diato to create more of that lineage led to the cursed elves of the underfey, the Drow.
The Underfey, and beyond
The Drow were perhaps the most successful failure of Diato, but in the unseen dark of the Underfey exist all manner of nightmares. Diato's name may be spoken in such places, but often is part of a curse.
