The city of Abbatchtka is the jewel of the continent, a center of the magical, political and scientific discourse of an entire civilisation. Ruled by a almost royal Emperor, the city has a rich history of wealth and progressive policies.

History

The history of the glass city is one of emperors, courts, intrigue, betrayal and the vaguely boring yet necessary bureaucracy that running a large city, or even a capital city entails. Founded on the southern aspect of the crater that formed the continent, Abbatchtka quickly grew from coastal village to a thriving town. The wealth brought in with the spoils of the sea led to power, and power led to conflict, with the founding of the Abbatchtkan empire starting a full millennium prior to the events of Campaign One.

Led in various ways, the political classes tend to be elected at the whim of the current emperor, with his closest advisors being invariably the master pulling the strings; however thaumocratic and republic rule has been tried in the past and failed, returning the people of the Glass city to the rule of the previous empire.

The Dragon attack during the Third War of Ascension

After the unveiling of the true colours of Ser Traintel in Calmore and the events thereafter, a dragon was freed by a group of adventurers. This ancient draconic form of Cerulo was responsible for the destruction of Ettinsmore and the firestorm of Calmore, before being killed after the siege of Abbatchtka. Two humble guards of the city watch were lauded as the saviours of the city.

Abbatchtka is the capital city of the continent, which has since been named after the empire that is run from here.

The City is run by the Senate, or Merald, which reports to the Emperor. The Merald convenes at the Glass Palace, which is the residence of the Emperor Askith Olva De Falle. It consists of three wings of buildings, with the northern estate being the emperor's personal estate. The Southern pavilion is the bureaucratic area, with the gardens of the Glass Palace being a beautiful setting for many of the cultural events of the city.

The Quadroe is the major gate to Abbatchtka. It is guarded by the Gleam, a regiment of the Abbatchtkan army that has diligently kept peace and order in the city for almost a millennium. It consists of 4 large towers that are interconnected by parapets and walls, with a drawbridge that crosses a deep moat that is filled by the ocean. The Guards are smarter than average; They wear silver mail and plate, with halberds of oak and steel. The tabards and flags are red and gold, a lion rampant.

The Groves is a busy market village within the town. It has a centre-piece of purple and orange trees, the groves of which they are named. The fruit of these trees is a strange orange-like thing, tangy yet sweet. The juice is a curious pick me up, though the aftertaste burns the tongue slightly.

The shops are intriguing, several artisans and artificers have set up shop here; bespoke items are freely available to the right amount of coin.

* Shantney’s Curios – a well to do pawn shop * Silvertide – a upmarket hotel * Wellborough – a food shop “experience” * Archetoon – A martial shop * De Vertelli – Ballonsmith and explorer extraordinaire

Arche; the peaceful quarter. This is a memorial village to previous wars and lost souls. A religious quarter, where it would exist, The Cathedral of Bahamut, the Holdraal, is found here.

  • The Legacy of Bahamut, High Priestess Sapha, a half elven priestess of Bahamut.
  • Prioress Devane
  • Reverend Elferrenn

The College of Sach is a magical university that is situated inside the city limits.

Fletch is a residential district which took the brunt of the damage sustained by the city during the rage of Erethian.

The docklands of Abbatchtka are known as the Waterside district.

The rich and famous, the great and the good, find lodging in the houses and mansions of the Hockleborough.

The Glass Palace

The major members of the Glass Palace:

  • Vizieré Tomas Illken – The emperor’s right hand
  • Marshall Qiette – A soldier hailing from Esten, the easternmost bastion of the empire.
  • Jinde Gaol – The head guardsman of the city.
  • Alsander Maplewood – A merchant of renown.
  • Sergeant at arms, Kinnett – a gnome secretary.
  • Lionsby, an explorer of many talents.
  • Legacy of Bahamut, High Priestess Sapha, a half elven priestess of Bahamut.

The College of Sach

The magical tuition at Abbatchtka is world renowned. The campus is partially out of the city, and is semi-autonomous. The library at this city is thought to have the most complete collecton of ancient texts on the continent. Unfortunately the library was destroyed during the events of Erethian's rage.
