History
The southern rivers in Osuvanne have many stories of elemental ghasts and ghosts, with local inhabitants almost in awe of the sheer elemental power - especially of Thaeme and the local water elementals who are almost sentient and utilised by some villagers in the area of Three Fingers. Orrot's Farm is one such village. It is a small outcropping of a hamlet, with three or four homesteads and farms that is within a half day's walk of the larger town.
Orrot's Farm has numerous stories of ghosts and untoward happenings in the area, with folkloric legengs stating a storied and torrid history involving love, loss, war, pride, peace, adventure, derring-do and more frequently derring-don't.
There is a larger meeting house emblazoned with the insignia of the Oakenthorne Militia over the doorways of the two farms. There seems to be a collection of small water elementals and sprites that work the farmland.
Orrot's Farm and Ghost Stories
The water elementals have stories of elemental ghasts that prey on the sprites:
- The Trio
- The Shivering Kid
- Smoke & Mirrors
- Simean's grief
The stories all centre around a group ghastly creatures that prey on sprites, their autonomy, and magical means of entrapment.
The Trio of Ghasts
The noted poem was written several hundred years ago by a privateer and adventurer who lived in the old free town of Daggerhaunt, who was rumoured to be the daughter of a vicious pirate, and consort of the god-touched. The name of the author has sadly faded from memory. Much of the poem deals with the monstrous murder of sailors on the seas, describing an unfortunate mariner who finds themselves targeted through a fast descending mist and their ship attacked and scuttled by three apparently undead ghasts. In legend, the ship commands many names - the Morbid Ark, The Surruption, the Ghostveil. Many, if not all of these are folkloric; enterprising pirates could use the names to strike fear into the hearts of the general population. Whilst mundane causes might be believed, some clerics investigating the history suggest that supernatural causes of undeath could be involved, and advise extreme caution.
Simean Orrot
Simean was a farmhand that was sadly rejected by the forest lady of Osuvanne, and cursed the farm after his rejection. Since that day, the farmland has been plagued by rumours of the ghasts and some days of undeath; a macabre event where the recently lost can be seen in the personality of the elementals for a full week after their passing. This week is finished with a final memorial called the Macabre Waltz. Why the farmland has this morbid event has baffled clerics from across Osuvanne and there have not been any believable theories to test.
