The Ardence
A group of adventurers put together by Ser Traintel to further his own ambition, The Ardence were an antagonist to The Joeshoes.
Description
A group that were once secretive were exposed by the investigation and action of The Joeshoes. The Ardence were found to be a quasi-religious sect set up by Ser Traintel in order to further his attempts to return to the divine plane and conquer it as the entity known as Tiamat.
History
First encountered in a small and eventually flooded ruin to the east of Riverrun, the Ardence were thorns in the side of the Joeshoes from the beginning. The Ardence were often seen dungeon diving around places associated with Draconic religion such as Tinch, Qi'Frayne and Normore. During the events of Ser Traintel's escape from Calmore, parts of the Ardence were indicted as co-conspirators.
It is thought that members of the Ardence were involved in the kidnap and torture of Criskira and the conditions of slavery.
It was also believed that the group tried to replace Astrid Vellowell on the council of Calmore in order to divert attention from their other activities.
After being thwarted in Calmore, the Ardence disappeared for a time, perhaps to recruit and rearm their forces. They resurfaced at Ettinsmore Lighthouse, where the hasp that held Cerulo in stasis was destroyed. The following rampage by the dragon destroyed the majority of Ettinsmore. After this victory, the group returned to a base of operations at Qi'Frayne, where further research into the prison of Erethian was being undertaken.
Despite the efforts of Fulgor and the Joeshoes, including vanquishing Morrison and Quillin in the same fight, Erethian was eventually freed, and heralded the start of his attempt at ascension as Tiamat.
