The seat of power of the barony of the same name,Calmore is the administrative center for the Empire of Abbatchtka.

It is right and proper that I take an apprentice. Not all apprentices turn out to be Hags offering a wish for someone's soul
—Astrid Vellowell, Wayfarers: The history of The Calmorian Way

History

Previously the small human settlement of Spinner's Fell, Calmore has a storied history. Most recently known as a town at the centre of the Last ascension attempt of Tiamat (the third war of ascension), it has survived dragon attacks and fires, political intrigue and magical catastrophe. As the most developed market town in the northwestern riding of the empire, Calmore had earnt it's place as the beaurocratic and democratic heartland of the Ardou Peninsula. Founded initially by a convoy of human traders led by the Eidiggar family, the town was mostly led by democratic process with a figurehead noble who acceded to the will of the population. Birthright was enough for the majority of the citizens, and they were led by the wielder of the Twin Blades of Eidiggar - Voimas and Osavus. Myth and legend surrounded the forging of these blades, rumoured to have been forged by a master blacksmith prior to the fall of Tinch and forgotten by the adventurer who paid for the work to be completed. The following millenia had the blades left to history, before they reappeared wielded by the Lord Eidiggar of Calmore. The true origin of the two weapons may never be uncovered, but the bloody history of the recent exploits of the blades can be traced to The Joeshoes, and more specifically to Corriander Heretofore, now rumoured to be the Waymaster of the Calmorian Way.

Calmore Town and its areas

The market town of Calmore is roughly organised around several parishes, with the central "Marbles" (otherwise known as the Meraldton) being the logistical and authoritative centre of the town. Blossomfall is a trendily upmarket area of Calmore, with several ruined towers in states of repair following the rebuilding effort after the Scouring of Calmore by Cerulo the blue. Eidegar is a densely packed and populated area to the southwest, with the barracks of the Calmorian Regiment garrisoned in the southeast, now commanded by a Major André Klalkikarduud. To the north west, an area of fallow ground called Spinner's Fell is the home of the ruin of the first settlement, and now contains the graeyards and monuments to the fallen.

Markets and Merchants

Calmore is known as the original location of Brewthan's Original Dwarf Forged Coffee Company.

The Blossomfall district also is home to Norven Mass's magical shop the Calmorian Maasterworks. Specialising in magical equipment, the Masterworks is a well respected institution in the magical community, and is known to supply magical equipment and supplies to the magisters of the town and beyond. It runs a routine trading convoy to the elves at Sudtinch, and often subcontracts simple tasks to adventuring parties - such as the collection of Phasemoth wings for inclusion in healing potions - with varying results depending on the groups. It is rumoured that the fabulous, fashionable, hipster owner of the shop is trying to track down a magical artefact known as an "Ensorcelled Bladestone" which - according to grimoires lent to Norven by Calmorian Sorcerer Astrid Vellowell - has the ability to store magical spells for a short time, allowing a mage to cast more spells as and when needed.

Outside the city centre shrines to Leshp (otherwise known as Sapphiros) and Bahamut, visitors to the city will often find street sellers of various quality; purveying hot foods, cold drinks, and questionable merchandise that fell off the back of a cart.

To the south eastern quarter of the town, you will find the forgeworks and barracks of the Calmorian Regiment, where the industrial work is completed. Whilst not affiliated to The Amahi, it can only be a matter of time before the city is recognised by that tinkerous organisation as a foreign satellite.
