Synopsis
The Rise and Fall of the Scorched Garrison
Having fled from the encroaching magma, the party encounter what appears to be a gelatinuous lava cube. It strikes out with its pseudopods but after much fighting and attacks, Benji conjures a small shower of rain that ends up killing the creature. As part of the fight, a thorn whip hits the device at the edge of the bridge and seems to trigger some clockwork.
Some of the party cross the glass bridge, slipping and sliding on the water that remains, crashing into the wall at the far-side.
With more time on their side, Luna and Benji examine the mechanism at the side of the glass bridge and realise that it has a button and it might control something related to the lava. Benji pushes the button and the garrison seems to tilt the opposite direction and the rooms they came from, filled with magma start to drain, and the other side starts to fill up. As the far side fills up, the creature attacking goblins scampers away, leaving the party alone. Benji pushes the button again and a grinding noise is heard from the mechanism and the garrison starts to shake.
With the garrison seemingly about to crash around them, the group reunite and flee with Almane and Stumble. Passing through rooms that are on fire and ruined by magma, they begin to escape, but it does not all go to plan, and when running through the last room and stepping from stone to stone across lava, Stumble stumbles and his foot is plunged into the lava, he's hauled out but is badly wounded by this. Eventually however they reach the portal - now flickering and sparking, as the place crashes around them.
In the distance they see a large tower with one of the lava giants stood next to it, seemingly talking to some feminine fire element. She hits the giant in the head, and Luna thinks she gets a glimpse of some figure in dark robes on the giants shoulder, before they disappear.
The party jump through the portal and arrive safely, if not fully intact, back in Kosmon.
